Creatine is the best supplement you can buy (legally) to increase muscle and strength and it is my own personal go-to supplement for all things bodybuilding and fitness. Lets talk creatine. Creatine powder consists of 2 parts creatine and 1 part carbohydrate. The creatine has a pH (acid/basic/ neutral) of 8+. The carbohydrate contains no lactose and only contains fructose! So, you can add 3 or 4 tablespoons of this supplement to a liter of water and you are ready to power out. That's right, 3 tablespoons (I usually add 1 to 1.5 if I'm really feeling it). It contains 4.5 grams of creatine per pill. That's about 40 calories in a 12 gram bottle – and that can be your total protein. This is about 1/3 of the RDA of protein you need to eat to build muscle. If you eat 20g protein per lb of bodyweight and then you do it for a week with no calories whatsoever, you probably are not even making the RDA of protein your priority. Creatine is also a great pre-workout supplement because it increases protein synthesis via muscle growth. If you eat 50-60 grams of protein (i.e. the recommended amount on a whole meal plan), you are going to gain about 3 pounds of muscle in under 6 months. When you are starting out, your body will just use what it can get. The great thing about creatine is it breaks down fairly easily in the body. The only problem is your body will never convert the excess creatine to energy (or muscle growth). So if you want to eat that big of a protein shake before and after your workout and you need it for your recovery, you will be out of luck. What does that mean? You could do exactly the same shake after your workout and your body will still be hungry for more. Now this may be fine and dandy when lifting weights, but when you do work out you want to have the right mixture of nutrients for the muscles you are preparing for. What we want is the right ratio of creatine to carbohydrate. Creatine is good because it increases energy and recovery. We want our workout to make us strong, as if it were a long run or marathon. Therefore, we want to build up the muscle, we don't want to make sure we are too muscular (muscular tone) or we are too heavy (muscular overload). If you look at the picture above you will see that I am on the "light" diet phase of the diet plan from which I started bodybuilding. When I started Related Article:
